What to Expect at a U-Pick / FAQ
So you're all set to come to a U-Pick, here's some info that will make your U-Pick experience even better!
What should I bring with me?
Apparel
Flower Boy Farm is a working farm, which means there may be tripping hazards, mud and more. Guests are strongly encouraged to wear close-toed shoes, and weather-appropriate clothing.
A Vase
U-Pick guests are provided a bucket to place their flowers in while they wander the fields picking blooms, but you'll want to bring a vase or your own bucket with you to transport the flowers home. Flowers will be happiest and stay fresh longer if they're kept in water. If you forget a vase/bucket, you may have the option to purchase a bucket at the U-Pick.
Optionals
Flower Boy Farm provides a pair of snips to use for cutting flowers, but you can bring your own if you like.
Most guests use their bare hands, but if you've got sensitive skin you might consider a pair of gloves.
Can I take pictures at the farm?
Yes, please take pictures to capture your time at Flower Boy Farm! And feel free to tag @flowerboyut on Instagram if you do so we can see your beautiful experiences at the farm and the stunning arrangements you make. If you're looking to do a more involved photo shoot (eg, graduation or engagement pictures), please contact me.
Are U-Picks kid-friendly?
Yes! So long as they are able to listen to and follow instructions (or are young enough to be carried), children are absolutely welcome to come to Flower Boy Farm. It's a great experience for kids to get outdoors, use their hands and learn about the natural world!
Are U-Picks pet-friendly?
No. Unfortunately, pets can be a bit too unpredictable - they can trample plants, poop in unfortunate places, and don't always get along with others. We ask that you leave your pets home.
But I see a dog in so many pictures!
The dog you probably have seen is Zuko. He gets special treatment because his dad runs Flower Boy Farm. He's a very good boy and would love to be pet if you see him at the farm.
Can I book a private U-Pick?
Most likely, yes! Flower Boy Farm has hosted several private U-Picks & events. Please reach out to talk about reserving the farm for a private U-Pick.
How long does U-Pick season last?
U-Picks typically run from late spring (May/June), until it gets too cold for the plants, usually late October.
